Dear Chippy,
I have to tell you that the furniture in here gets moved around a lot more than any furniture you have out there! I mean, every morning I come down and something is changed-- the chairs get changed and the boxes get changed and the laundry basket is in a different place. Sometimes it is a K-9 sort of experience just to get up to the window where I have to work.
(Not the canis familiaris sort of K-9, the mountain sort of K-9)
But, like you, I have to take stock of these things and it's the first thing I do each morning: check my perimeters. How is a cat supposed to know how to remove himself from one place and get to another in a hurry if the furniture is all re-arranged? They constantly do this to me. They sometimes get really ruthless about it-- boxes that they have imported for me are suddenly whisked away and squashed and put into a pile for the trashman. I once had a box that was about ten feet long with a very useful flap at each end. I could hide in there and they could not see me for hours. Then if some bare feet came by I could dash out and -- (well, they don't like it, but I think it's fun.)
What I hate is when they run around and throw things at me. They are really paranoid about the computer and I get attacked when I get back there with that humming cpu. Then I have to use the back roads to get away. There are some good secret places in this house, but, like I said, these good places can suddenly disappear overnight and then I have to start all over again mapping.
So what are you complaining about-- a few piles of sticks? You've got the whole world to hide in out there-- what's wrong with under the shed?
Humpf. K.C. Oh, and..
PS: Re: Bread Buttered on Both Sides -- NOT!
Why did you have to mention moving furniture? Now, just as you wafted the concept into the northwest breeze, the humans have decided to expand the office in the main room in this place and destroy at least one third of my territory. And they act as if they are not finished. I think I’ll go to bed early. There’s no point in trying to remap tonight. Who knows what will change overnight?
At least the main furniture out there is rooted to the ground. The houses. The trees. Get a life!
You never did answer my question about the large birds? They look like more than one cat could eat for dinner. Actually, they look like more than one cat could REACH! You know, the ones that sit on the elaborate TV antenna across the street and show off their wings? What are THEY all about?
I’m turning in early tonight.
Discombobulatedly, K.C.
